External data services plug-in IBM Content Navigator includes a plug-in that you can modify to enable the web client to access property-level data that is stored in a separate data source from the content in your repository.
You can use an external data service to customize field properties and property behaviors when users:
  • Add documents
  • Add folders
  • Check in documents
  • Use entry templates
  • Process workflow step properties and workflow filter criteria fields
  • Create or use searches

The external data service plug-in supports integration of data from an external data source into IBM Content Navigator. To use this plug-in, you must create a service to pass the data from the external data source to IBM Content Navigator.

IBM Content Navigator also includes a sample plug-in that you can use if you want to develop your own plug-ins by using the IBM Content Navigator APIs.
