IBM Content Navigator, Version 2.0.3     Supports:  OnDemand

Configuring the AFP viewer (IBM Content Manager OnDemand)

You can use the AFP viewer as an alternative to the AFP2PDF viewer to view your AFP documents. To use the AFP viewer plug-in, the administrator must run the AFP Viewer Plug-In Plus installation program on each client workstation.

Before you begin

Ensure that AFP Viewer Plug-In Plus is installed on each IBM® Content Navigator client workstation that requires the AFP viewer.

The executable file to start the AFP Viewer Plug-In Plus installation program is afpplgin.exe and is in the following directory where IBM Content Manager OnDemand Web Enablement Kit is installed: $ODWEK_program_files/plugins/.

About this task

If you configure the AFP viewer but the AFP Viewer Plug-In Plus is not installed on the client workstation, IBM Content Navigator will open the document with the AFP2PDF viewer if the AFP2PDF viewer is installed and configured.

Procedure

To configure IBM Content Navigator to view AFP files on Content Manager OnDemand:

  1. In the IBM Content Navigator administration tool, click Plug-ins, and then click New Plug-in.
  2. Register and configure the AFP Viewer plug-in: AFPViewerPlugin.jar. Load the JAR file by entering the fully qualified URL or the file path to the AFPViewerPlugin.jar file that is installed on the server:
    • Enter the URL in the following sample format:
    • Enter the path to the file that is installed on the server, for example:
      • Linux: /opt/IBM/ECMClient/plugins/afpViewerPlugin/AFPViewerPlugin.jar
      • Microsoft Windows: C:\Program Files\IBM\ECMClient\plugins\afpViewerPlugin\AFPViewerPlugin.jar
  3. Save the plug-in configuration.
  4. In the Viewer Maps section, add the AFP Viewer to a viewer map:
    1. Select an existing viewer map or create a new viewer map. Click New Mapping.
    2. Select the IBM Content Manager OnDemand repository and then select AFP Viewer.
    3. Specify the application/afp MIME type, and then click OK.
    4. On the Viewer Map page, specify the lookup order in which the AFP viewer is used.
  5. Select the viewer map in your desktop configuration in the Desktops section.
  6. In the Desktops section, select or create a desktop where you want to use the viewer map that is configured with the AFP viewer:
    1. Click the General tab.
    2. In the Viewer map property, specify the viewer map that you modified or created in the earlier step.

Results

Client workstations that have AFP Viewer Plug-In Plus installed can view AFP documents in the web browser.

If you follow these steps but still cannot view AFP documents in your web browser, ensure that your HTTPOnly settings are disabled.
