Upgrading to IBM Content Navigator, Version 2.0.3

You can upgrade to IBM® Content Navigator, Version 2.0.3 from IBM Content Navigator, Version 2.0.1, Version 2.0.1 fix packs and interim fixes, Version 2.0.2, or Version 2.0.2 fix packs and interim fixes.

Before you begin

Before you upgrade IBM Content Navigator:
  • Ensure that you successfully installed, configured, and deployed a previous version of IBM Content Navigator.
  • Ensure that you are running the prerequisite software at the appropriate version. For example, ensure that the following statements are true:
    • If you use IBM Content Navigator to connect to IBM Content Manager OnDemand repositories, ensure that you are running a supported version of IBM Content Manager OnDemand Web Enablement Kit. In IBM Content Navigator, Version 2.0.3, ODWEK Version 9 is the minimum supported version.
    • Ensure that your web application server supports the features that you plan to use. Features such as sync services and task manager are not supported on all web application server versions.

  • Back up your current installation of IBM Content Navigator.
  • Ensure that the IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment Tool is closed.

In addition, it is strongly recommended that you use the Installation and configuration worksheets to record the values that you use in your existing profiles. The worksheets make it easier for you to ensure that your profiles contain the correct information after you update them.

To upgrade IBM Content Navigator, complete the following tasks:

  1. Upgrading the IBM Content Navigator software
    You can upgrade the IBM Content Navigator software on the server by running the installation program or by running a silent installation.
  2. Preparing your DB2 for z/OS database for IBM Content Navigator 2.0.3
    When you upgrade to IBM Content Navigator, Version 2.0.3, you must update your IBM Content Navigator database to support additional features. However, you must take additional steps to prepare your DB2® for z/OS® database for IBM Content Navigator, Version 2.0.3
  3. Upgrading an IBM Content Navigator deployment
    After you upgrade the IBM Content Navigator software, you must rebuild and redeploy your IBM Content Navigator web application.
  4. Upgrading an IBM CMIS deployment
    After you upgrade the IBM Content Navigator software, you must rebuild and redeploy your IBM CMIS web applications.
  5. Mapping IBM Content Navigator components to IBM HTTP Server
    If you deploy IBM Content Navigator or an IBM Content Navigator component on WebSphere® Application Server, you should map the components of the deployed application to IBM HTTP Server.
  6. Updating your IBM Content Navigator database
    After you upgrade your IBM Content Navigator deployment, you must update your IBM Content Navigator database. You must complete this task only if you did not update the database script from the IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment Tool.
  7. Verifying your deployment
    Before you administer your web application, you must verify that the web application was successfully upgraded and deployed to your web application server.
  8. Updating your repositories for cross-repository searches
    If you want users to be able to save cross-repository searches on your IBM Content Manager or IBM FileNet Content Manager repositories, you must enable cross-repository searches on your repositories.
  9. Updating your teamspaces
    IBM Content Navigator, Version 2.0.2 includes enhancements to teamspaces. You must update your teamspaces after you upgrade IBM Content Navigator.
  10. Updating the plug-ins that are delivered with IBM Content Navigator
    To get any updates that are included in the IBM Content Navigator plug-ins, you must replace the plug-in JAR files on your web application server.
  11. Verifying your mobile configurations
    If you enabled access to your desktops from mobile devices, you must confirm that the desktops are still enabled for mobile access after you upgrade your system.
  12. Upgrading your IBM Content Navigator for Microsoft Office installation
    If you are running IBM Content Navigator for Microsoft Office and you upgrade your IBM Content Navigator, you must also upgrade your IBM Content Navigator for Microsoft Office installation.
  13. Updating the IBM Content Navigator for Microsoft Office workflows
    If you installed the predefined document review workflows that were included with a previous version of IBM Content Navigator for Microsoft Office, you must transfer the new versions of the document review workflows to your workflow system.
