IBM FileNet P8 users only.IBM Content Navigator, Version 2.0.3     Supports:

Getting IBM Collaboration Services up and running

To provide IBM® Collaboration Services to your users, you must install the prerequisite software and install, configure, and deploy the client. There are also optional post installation tasks recommended.

Tip: Before you install and configure IBM Collaboration Services, you must complete the appropriate installation and configuration worksheets. See Installation and configuration worksheets.

Follow these general steps to install and configure IBM Collaboration Services.

IBM Collaboration Services is a component of and is installed as a part of IBM Content Navigator. To configure and deploy IBM Collaboration Services on a supported web application server, use the IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment Tool.

Step 1 - Install and configure the prerequisite software

Before you configure and deploy IBM Collaboration Services, install the prerequisite software on the server where you plan to install the IBM Content Navigator software.

You must have a supported web application server on the IBM Content Navigator server.

In addition, ensure that you are running a supported version of one of the following applications:
  • IBM FileNet® P8 Platform
  • IBM Content Foundation

Step 2 - Install IBM Content Navigator

Install the IBM Content Navigator software. You can install the IBM Content Navigator software by running the installation program or by running a silent installation. The installation program adds the files on the IBM Content Navigator server.

Important: If you plan to deploy IBM Content Navigator in a clustered environment, install the software on at least one server in the cluster. However, it is easier to achieve high availability if you install the IBM Content Navigator software on some or all of the servers in the cluster.

You do not need to install multiple instances of the IBM Content Navigator software to deploy different types of web applications.

Step 3 - Configure and deploy IBM FileNet Collaboration Services

Before you can use the IBM FileNet Collaboration Services services to connect to IBM Connections, configure and deploy IBM FileNet Collaboration Services on your web application server.

To configure and deploy IBM Content Navigator, complete the following tasks in the IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment Tool:
  1. Create a configuration profile.
  2. Enable your IBM FileNet Collaboration Services web application to work with the IBM Content Navigator administration tool.
Restriction: Complete this task only if you are entitled to use the IBM Content Navigator administration tool and you plan to use the administration tool rather than the site preferences parameter file.
To use the IBM Content Navigator administration tool, you must create a deployment profile that includes the following web applications:
    • IBM Content Navigator connecting to IBM FileNet Content Manager repositories
    • IBM FileNet Collaboration Services
  3. Update the IBM FileNet P8 client connector files.
  4. Configure a connection to your Content Engine LDAP server.
Tip: If you plan to deploy IBM FileNet Collaboration Services in the same cell as Content Engine on WebSphere® Application Server, you do not need to configure the connection to your LDAP server.
  5. Import the Content Engine LTPA .
Tip: If you plan to deploy IBM FileNet Collaboration Services in the same cell as Content Engine on WebSphere Application Server, you do not need to complete this task
  6. Configure IBM FileNet Collaboration Services.
  7. Build the web application.
  8. Deploy the web application.
  9. Restart your web application server.
  10. Map IBM Content Navigator components to IBM HTTP Server.
  11. Verify your IBM FileNet Collaboration Services deployment.

Step 4 - Administration tasks

After you install IBM FileNet Collaboration Services, you must complete additional administration tasks.
Required tasks
If you plan to use IBM FileNet Collaboration Services to work with IBM Connections, you must install object store add-on features.
Optional tasks
You can complete the following tasks to tune IBM FileNet Collaboration Services for your environment.
Remember: You must be entitled to use the IBM Content Navigator administration tool. If you are not, you must use the site preferences parameter file to complete the administration tasks. However, not all of the tasks can be completed by using the site preferences parameter file.
