Configuring optional IBM FileNet Collaboration Services settings by using the IBM Content Navigator administration tool

You can configure optional IBM® FileNet® Collaboration Services parameters if you want to tune IBM FileNet Collaboration Services for your IBM FileNet P8 environment.

About this task

These settings apply to all of the IBM FileNet P8 on which IBM Connections content is stored.

You can configure these settings from either the IBM Content Navigator administration tool or the IBM FileNet Collaboration Services site preferences file. However, you can only use the IBM Content Navigator administration tool if you are entitled to do so. If you are not entitled to use the IBM Content Navigator administration tool, see Modifying site preferences parameter values.

Procedure

To configure optional IBM FileNet Collaboration Services settings by using the IBM Content Navigator administration tool:

  1. Log in to the IBM Content Navigator administration tool.
  2. Select FileNet Content Manager.
  3. Configure the appropriate options for your environment:
    Option Description
Use the URL on incoming requests to generate response URLs In most IBM FileNet Collaboration Services environments, you can use the URL of an incoming request to generate the URL in a response.
Select Yes unless one of the following situations applies to your environment:
    • You want to force client applications to access IBM FileNet Collaboration Services through a specific URL.
    • Your proxy server settings cause IBM FileNet Collaboration Services to produce invalid URLS.

If you specify No, you must specify the URL by which client applications can access IBM FileNet Collaboration Services with the form http://FNCSserver:port_number.

If IBM FileNet Collaboration Services is configured to use SSL, specify the HTTPS URL.

Hide user email addresses in server responses Select Yes to hide users’ email addresses in server responses if you need to comply with privacy policies. For example, you can hide the list of users’ email addresses when the server returns a list of documents and information about the users who created or edited the documents.
Mask user IDs in log files Select Yes to hide user names in IBM FileNet Collaboration Services log files if you need to comply with privacy policies. When you enable this option, user names are replaced with hash values. This enables you to provide log files to external companies, such as IBM, for support purposes without compromising your users’ names or activity records.
Move deleted files to the recovery bin Select Yes to move the items to a recovery bin, rather than deleting the items from the repository when users delete items. The items remain in the recovery bin until they are purged. This setting is ignored if the target repository does not support recovery bins.
Restriction: Recovery bins are supported on IBM FileNet P8 Version 5.2 or later and require the Social Collaboration Base Extensions add-on.
  4. Save your changes to the configuration.
