Installing object store add-on features

An add-on feature bundles together a set of IBM® FileNet® P8 custom metadata that an application can use to support document management features.

The add-on features must be registered in the IBM FileNet P8 domain before use. The add-on feature must be installed on an object store to be used by or available to an application. Use either IBM FileNet Enterprise Manager or Administration Console for Content Platform Engine to manage add-on features with object stores.

An add-on feature can depend on other add-on features. IBM FileNet Enterprise Manager or Administration Console for Content Platform Engine manages these dependencies during add-on feature installation by automatically selecting all add-on feature prerequisites that are not already installed.

To install add-on features:

Install the FileNet P8 Version 5.2 add-on features to your FileNet P8 domain.
Determine which add-on features will be installed to your object store.
Install the add-on features to your object store by using either IBM FileNet Enterprise Manager or Administration Console for Content Platform Engine.

Social collaboration add-on features

The social collaboration add-on features are installed in the AddOns folder after the installation or upgrade of a standard Content Platform Engine domain. The add-on features can be optionally installed into any object store within that domain. The add-on features that are required by IBM FileNet Collaboration Services for collaboration with IBM Connections are:

Teamspace Extensions (required): The Teamspace Extensions add-on feature supports the use of libraries.
Custom Role Extension add-on feature (required): The Custom Role Extension add-on feature enables role-based security in IBM Connections.
Social Collaboration Role Extension add-on feature (required): The Social Collaboration Role Extension add-on feature enables role-based security in IBM Connections.
Social Collaboration Base Extensions (required): The Social Collaboration Base Extensions add-on feature supports the social collaboration features, such as tags, comments, and so on.
Social Collaboration Notification Extensions (optional): The Social Collaboration Notification Extension add-on feature is required to display the IBM FileNet Content Manager events on their IBM Connections update pages. IBM FileNet Collaboration Services does not depend on this add-on feature at all.
Social Collaboration Search Indexing Extensions (optional): The Social Collaboration Search Indexing Extensions add-on feature is required to use integrated IBM Connections search.
Social Collaboration Document Review Extensions (optional): The Social Collaboration Document Review Extensions add-on feature is required to use draft approval workflow and moderation.
Social Collaboration User Identity Extensions (optional): The Social Collaboration User Identity Extensions add-on feature is required to map the creator and last modifier properties to a SID (the user’s unique security ID), as stored in the LDAP directory service. This feature enables IBM Connections to display creator and last modifier values that are guaranteed to be unique and stable over time.
