Configuring activity stream events for a repository

You can configure an IBM® FileNet® P8 repository to push event information, such as comments and document approvals, to IBM Connections. Events are displayed on the Recent Updates page in IBM FileNet P8 communities.

About this task

Restriction: You can complete this task only if you are entitled to use the IBM Content Navigator administration tool.

Procedure

To configure activity stream events for a repository:

  1. Log in to the IBM Content Navigator administration tool.
  2. Select Repositories and select the repository for which you want to enable the activity stream events to be pushed to IBM Connections.
  3. Connect to the repository.
  4. Select the IBM Connections tab.
  5. In the Activity Stream Event Configuration section, enable the repository to push event information to IBM Connections.
  6. Enter the URL to your IBM Connections server. The URL should have the following format: http://IBMConnectionsServer:port_number. If IBM Connections is configured to use IBM HTTP Server, you can omit the port number from the URL.

The URL must be accessible to IBM Connections users because this is the link that IBM FileNet Collaboration Services uses to create links to document landing pages in IBM Connections.

  7. Optional: Specify any users or groups for whom you want to ignore event information.
  8. Specify the name and password of an IBM Connections user. This user is the system account that Content Platform Engine will use to authenticate to and send event information to IBM Connections. The user must be in the trustedExternalApplication role in the Widget Container application in IBM Connections.
Tip: By default, the IBM Connections administrator has the appropriate privileges. You can use the administrator ID as the user name.
  9. Save your changes to the repository configuration.
