Developing the Collaboration Server solution

Solution developers take the specifications from the solution architects and create the data model objects, workflows and collaboration areas, import, export, and report jobs, selections and searches, and security objects. Solution developers can use Java™, script, or the user interface for these tasks.

Creating data model objects
You can create data model objects such as specs, sub specs, hierarchies, catalogs, and lookup tables with IBM® InfoSphere® Master Data Management Collaboration Server. With GDS, you can upload or run a script to load the data model object.
Creating objects for business processes
You create a workflow to manage the flow of work in a business process, and you create a collaboration area to hold the entries that are in the steps of the workflow. You use workflows to define a set of business processes and rules which are then applied to any IBM InfoSphere Master Data Management Collaboration Server entries.
Enabling the business user workflow dashboard for business processes
The business user workflow dashboard is a custom tool. The dashboard provides users a categorized graphical summary of their current tasks to enable a better view into what tasks they need to complete.
Integrating with upstream and downstream systems
To integrate your Collaboration Server system with upstream and downstream systems, you need to create data sources, define import, export, or report jobs, and create message queues. An upstream system is any system that sends data to the Collaboration Server system. A downstream system is a system that receives data from the Collaboration Server system.
Creating selections and searches
You can create selections so that users can use saved search queries or results. You can create searches so that users can search catalogs, hierarchies, or collaboration areas.
Creating the security model
You create a security model so that users can have different levels of privileges to objects in the Collaboration Server solution.
Creating custom tools with the UI framework
You can extend the capabilities for the user interface in IBM InfoSphere Master Data Management Collaboration Server by using the UI framework and the Java API for InfoSphere MDM Collaboration Server.
Customizing labels and icons for items and categories
A solution implementer can customize the labels and icons used for entities managed in a catalog or a hierarchy. By default, the label item and category respectively are used by the user interface for these entities. A solution implementer can define one or more specifications of icons and labels to be used for a given type of business entity managed in their catalogs or hierarchies. Each of these types of business entity specifications are a domain entity specification.
Enabling event logging using history manager
You can use the history manager of IBM InfoSphere Master Data Management Collaboration Server to log object events through Java APIs. You can also disable event logging for a session for all objects, all objects of a specific type, and specific events. Refer to the Javadoc for details.
Configuring and using the Entity Count Tool
The entity count tool enables you to count the number of entities in the system.
