Creating objects for business processes

You create a workflow to manage the flow of work in a business process, and you create a collaboration area to hold the entries that are in the steps of the workflow. You use workflows to define a set of business processes and rules which are then applied to any IBM® InfoSphere® Master Data Management Collaboration Server entries.

Business processes
A business process is a set of tasks that a client performs to meet a business need or resolve a business issue. For example, a set of tasks for introducing a new product is a business process.
Defining use cases
Use cases are built to refine a set of requirements based on a role or task. Instead of the traditional list of requirements that may not directly address the use of the solution, use cases group common requirements based on the type of role or goal. Use cases define what the users or roles will be doing in the solution, a business process defines how they will perform those functions.
Creating business processes
Creating a business process is the accumulation of the understanding of how the business wants to perform this process and the set of use cases that define what they do in our system. A business process always has a defined starting and ending point, and may have multiple starting or ending points dependent on the process.
Creating collaboration areas
Creating collaboration areas include building, reserving, and releasing items within the collaboration area.
Creating workflows
Using workflows allows more strict control of the Collaboration Server process.
