Upgrading or migrating to a Version 8.5.5 installation

You can upgrade to WSRR V8.5.5 from V6.3, V7.0, V7.5, or V8.0. You can also migrate from one WSRR V8.5.0 or V8.5.5 installation to a different V8.5.5 installation, or enhance an existing V8.5.5 installation by running the upgrade tool.

After upgrade, you have a WSRR V8.5.5 installation that behaves the same as your source WSRR. Your configuration profile or data might be changed in small ways, to help achieve the goal of maintaining original behavior. Consult the topic special upgrade considerations to see where such changes might be made. Functions that are specific to releases of WSRR later than your source system generally are not enabled, in order to preserve original behavior. Consult the upgrade topics, or the full WSRR documentation, for information about enabling these new functions on your upgraded installation (see Enhancing an existing WSRR V8.5.5 installation).

Regardless of what version you are upgrading from, the first step is always to install WSRR V8.5.5. You should also make a new installation of WebSphere Application Server V8.5.5.

When upgrading from WSRR V6.3, V7.0, V7.5, or V8.0, or migrating from one installation of WSRR V8.5.0 or V8.5.5 to another, you use the WSRR web UI upgrade tool. You use the tool from the target WSRR system. You can monitor the progress of the upgrade or migration by using this tool.
