Using the MDM and Cloudant integration sample for mobile computing

Enterprises want to develop mobile applications that are powered by on-premises data. Making your IBM® InfoSphere® Master Data Management data available on the cloud is an increasingly desired option by many business users. Use the MDM and Cloudant® integration sample to extract on-premises master data and then store that data in a read-only IBM Cloudant cache. The data can then be used by mobile applications, while keeping the on-premises MDM data and Cloudant cache in sync.

Image shows data moving from MDM to Cloudant and finally to the mobile app.
Cloudant is a database as a service (DBaaS) data management platform that is optimized for mobile applications. Cloudant leverages the availability, elasticity, and reach of the cloud to create a global data delivery network (DDN) that enables applications to scale larger and remain available to users wherever they are. Using Cloudant enables you to:
  • Distribute readable, writable copies of data to multiple locations or devices.
  • Synchronize data continuously through filtered, multi-master replication.
  • Store data of any structure as self-describing JSON documents. Moreover, users can read from and write to the closest available data source.
  • Integrate with a RESTful API.

InfoSphere MDM addresses issues of fragmented, incomplete, and inconsistent data with a central repository to store master data across an organization. As the system of record, InfoSphere MDM creates and maintains a trusted and secure version of the truth for master data and enables a 360-degree view of the customer.

The information that is provided in the following topics is targeted towards system architects and developers. The information assumes familiarity and skills with InfoSphere MDM, Cloudant, IBM Bluemix™, InfoSphere DataStage®, and Node.js.
