Managing users and groups

Users and user groups are provided so that you can manage the level of access for each individual to your WebSphere® DataPower® XC10 Appliance. You can use user groups to apply permissions to groups of users.

• Create users. If you are using LDAP authentication, the user that is being registered must exist in the LDAP repository. Administrators can create new users, or users can self-register:
  • Administrator user creation: Click Collective > Users. Click the add icon ( ) and provide information about the user.
  • Self-register a user: From the login screen, click Register... to begin creating a user account. Self-registered users are assigned appliance monitoring permissions by default.
• Manage users. When you create a user, the user has the default permissions. If the user account needs additional permissions, then you must add these permissions manually after the initial user creation. Click Collective > Users > user_name. You can view user activity, assign the user to a user group, and modify permissions for the user. To delete a user, click the delete icon ().
  Note: The administrator user account, xcadmin, cannot be deleted.
• Create and manage user groups. Click Collective > User groups. Click the add icon ( ) and provide information about the user group. For more information about managing user groups, see Managing user groups. To remove a user group, click the remove icon ().
