IBM FileNet P8, Version 5.2.1

Using the command-line interface

Use the command-line interface as an alternative method of working with FileNet® Deployment Manager.

Learning how to work with FileNet Deployment Manager at the command-line level can help create a deeper understanding of the migration and deployment processes. Deployment files that are used by the command-line interface are also used by the graphical user interface. Therefore, becoming familiar with these files can help you customize migration and deployment operations. In addition, these files can be shared between users or between instances of operations. By developing your own custom code that works with the command-line interface, you can increase the flexibility of how you work with FileNet Deployment Manager, for example, to automate deployment operations.

You can use the command-line interface to configure and complete deployment operations such as creating half maps, data maps, and deployment data sets, exporting and importing deployment data sets, generating audit reports for the effect of the import on the destination environment, and many other deployment operations. You can also use the command-line interface to generate the sample files.
