Creating sample files for FileNet Deployment Manager

FileNet® Deployment Manager provides a set of sample files that are populated with the configuration data and operation data that is required to complete migration and deployment actions. You can use the sample files as models to learn more about the functions of FileNet Deployment Manager or as templates to create your own customized files for use with the FileNet Deployment Manager command-line interface.

The sample files include several different types of files:
  • Examples of the XML deployment configuration files. These files are populated with the configuration, map, and source-destination pair data that is required for migration and deployment actions. For information about these sample files, see Deployment configuration files.
  • Examples of XML deployment operation files and their auxiliary files. These files contain the commands and options needed to run the migration and deployment actions. For information about these sample files, see Deployment operation files.
  • The XSD schema description files that are used by FileNet Deployment Manager to ensure the validity of its input files.

To create the sample files:

Select one of the following options.
  • To create the sample files from the command-line interface, use the --samples argument. For example, enter DeploymentManager.exe --samples. FileNet Deployment Manager places the generated files in the Samples folder in the current working directory.
  • To create the sample files from the graphical user interface, select Deployment > Create Sample Files. FileNet Deployment Manager places the generated files in the Samples folder of the deployment tree.
