If a functional NCP is not present in the controller, the controller does not accept the transfer of load modules over these connections. You will need to perform a recovery operation using one of the following methods:

• Reload NCP over a switched SDLC link.
• Using a diskette procedure, transfer an initial load module to the controller disk, and then reload the controller.

The capability to load and activate or dump a link-attached NCP over a token-ring or an X.25 switched virtual circuit (SVC) connection requires additional planning.
