Attaching peripheral nodes to NCP

z/OS Communications Server: SNA Network Implementation Guide
SC27-3672-01

The following connections can be used to attach a peripheral node to NCP:
  • Nonswitched SDLC lines
  • Switched SDLC lines
  • NCP/Token-Ring interconnection (NTRI)
  • NCP Packet Switching Interface (NPSI)
  • Binary synchronous (BSC) lines
  • Start-stop (SS) lines
Notes:
  1. Start-stop support is defined to VTAM® as SNA physical and logical units. The start-stop protocol must be converted or enveloped in an SNA data stream using either a 3708 protocol converter or the NTO licensed program.
  2. See X.25 Network Control Program Packet Switching Interface Planning and Installation for information about X.25 connections.
