Other communication controller dumps z/OS Communications Server: SNA Network Implementation Guide SC27-3672-01 |
|
In addition to an NCP dump, you can obtain two other dumps for an IBM® 372x or 3745
Communication Controller:
Unlike the NCP dump, these dumps are not requested by you. If a controller MOSS fails, the MOSS is automatically dumped to the controller MOSS disk (for the 3720 and 3745 Communication Controllers) or diskette (for the 3725 Communication Controller). Likewise, if the controller CSP fails, the CSP is automatically dumped to the controller hard disk. When either a MOSS or CSP dump is taken, a notification is sent to VTAM®, alerting you of the failure. You issue the MODIFY DUMP command to move the contents of the dump to a file in the host processor, where it can be formatted and printed. In addition, the MODIFY DUMP command lets you purge the dump from the controller hard disk without transferring it to the host. Use the MODIFY DUMP command to:
If you have the NetView® program in your system, VTAM is notified that the MOSS or CSP dump transfer to the host has failed. The command facility then notifies you of the failure and gives you the option of requesting the transfer of the dump file to a file in the host processor. Either you or the command facility can issue the MODIFY DUMP command. To print the contents of the MOSS or CSP dump file, use the NCP independent dump utility described in the NCP, SSP, and EP Diagnosis Guide. |
