Upgrading
The upgrade of a node in a B2B Advanced Communications installation changes the installation to a more recent version of B2B Advanced Communications.
An upgrade can be one of the following changes:
- The application of interim fixes and fix packs to an existing installation with the IBM® Installation Manager.
- A completely new installation with the IBM Installation Manager.Important: Because of the recent release of B2B Advanced Communications in April 2014, only upgrades with fix packs and interim fixes are available for the application.
An upgrade is similar to the initial installation. You must use the Installation Manager to ensure that you upgrade with the correct software.
Important:
- The upgrade procedures involve major changes to your installation. Read through a procedure at least one time before you start the upgrade.
- You must be familiar with the B2B Advanced Communications commands that are needed to perform the upgrade procedures. For more information, see Command reference.
Upgrade scenarios
The upgrade documentation includes upgrade procedures for the four standard installation scenarios (proof of concept, single node, minimum high availability, recommended high availability). If your installation differs from these scenarios, use one of the scenarios as a guideline for your upgrade. These scenarios are described in more detail in other topics.
Attention: The upgrade documentation may be subject to
change. Please refer to the documentation that accompanied the interim
fix or the fix pack for the latest upgrade procedure.
