Use this tutorial as a hands-on introduction to using the
Social MDM Matching application to link enterprise customer profiles
with social media profiles and sentiment data.
Use the sample files to quicken the
amount of time it takes to complete the flow as described in the Social
MDM Matching application flow topic.
This tutorial assumes that
you are using InfoSphere® Big Match for
Hadoop and
have installed Big Match within
an IBM® InfoSphere BigInsights™ installation.
Note: This
tutorial and the sample data provided support only the retail industry.

Audience
The information in this tutorial
is targeted for developers.
Prerequisites
Before you begin this tutorial,
make sure that the following items are in place.
- You must install the components that are listed in Social MDM Matching requirements and installed assets.
- If you are using the sample (which is the suggested method for
this tutorial), verify that you have contents in the $BIGINSIGHTS_HOME/bigmatch/etc/sample directory.
Verify that the sample is deployed by running the list command
in the HBase console and look for the bmSample1 table.
- You must have the Social MDM Matching sample artifacts, including
the sample bmTweets.json file, available on your
system.
- You must have your customer profile extract in place. You can
accomplish this by using either one of the following options.
- Option 1: If you use InfoSphere Big Match for
Hadoop,
you can use the PME Extract application to create a Person.Extract
table. This is the option that you would take in a real-world implementation.
- Option 2: Use the sample extract (bmSample1-extract)
file by completing the steps in Uploading the sample person data for the Social MDM Matching application.
This option is the quickest way to proceed through the tutorial.
Expected results
At the completion
of this tutorial, you should be able to search for a customer profile
and view associated social media comments.
