Data synchronization between virtual MDM and physical MDM

In most of the hybrid MDM scenarios that InfoSphere® MDM Advanced Edition supports, source systems continue to direct member record updates to virtual MDM.

As changes to members impact how entities are composed within the composite view, the changes must be reflected in physical MDM. Updates are necessary even if you persisted only the registered contact equivalencies for a party. More specifically, the updates are necessary if an entity has been persisted or maintained in physical MDM leveraging the persistEntity transaction in entity registration mode, and if entity membership has changed.

An entity event management notification component captures all entity-level changes, and invokes the persistEntity service of physical MDM when there is a change to the view or a change to the entity membership information. The invocation of the persistEntity service is asynchronous. Therefore, the service makes a callback to virtual MDM to get the most up-to-date version of the composite view for the entity. You can configure the entity event notification component to conditionally call the persistEntity service if required. For example, if you want to persist an entity only when the entity exceeds a certain number of members, you can provide your customized logic for the external rule 210. Refer to the source code for MDMLinkRule.java, provided with the product distribution.
Note: Hybrid MDM supports only the transitive linking style. The non-transitive, best match, and trusted source linking styles are not available.

With a user interface that is included with IBM® Stewardship Center, you can view and fix data quality issues that occur when you run the persistEntity service. The interface presents a list of data quality issues with details about each issue, such as an incorrect birthdate or a missing field. For issues that require changes to virtual MDM source systems, you can send emails to the administrators of the source system with embedded information about the particular issues.
