Change the root directory of an index area to move the
area. You might want to move the area because the current disk has
become full or to take advantage of a faster disk. Indexing and searching
must stop while the area is being moved.
About this task
Attention: This procedure involves some risk
of data loss or data corruption. To minimize this risk, follow the
instructions closely.
Procedure
To change the root directory of an index area
- Accessing
subsystem configuration properties. For each active subsystem,
clear Enable indexing and save your changes.
- Starting and stopping IBM® Content
Search Services. Stop and start
the servers.
- Determine the current root directory for the index area.
The remaining steps in this procedure refer to this directory as the
old root directory.
- Listing index
areas.
- In the details pane, select the name of the index area.
- Click the General tab.
- Note the root directory as specified in the Root
Directory Path field. For example, the root directory
might be \\Daphne\Indexes\IndexArea1.
- Enter the new root directory for the index area.
- Verify that the new root directory exists. For example,
the new root directory might be \\Daphne\Indexes\IndexArea2.
- In the Root Directory Path field,
enter the new root directory .
- Save your changes.
- Back up the old root directory.
- Copy the contents of the old root directory including subdirectories
to the new root directory.
- Accessing
subsystem configuration properties. For each active subsystem,
select Enable indexing and save your changes.
