Create and manage index areas for an object store to distribute
index information across multiple file systems for scalability purposes.
Also, partition indexes to potentially improve full-text search performance.
Listing index areas
List the index areas for an object store to view the status
and other property values for each index area.
Changing the root directory of an index area
Change the root directory of an index area to move the
area. You might want to move the area because the current disk has
become full or to take advantage of a faster disk. Indexing and searching
must stop while the area is being moved.
Deleting an unused full-text index
Delete an unused full-text index and the associated index
configuration files when necessary. The files for an index are in
a subdirectory of the index area root directory. Usually, IBM® Content
Search Services deletes the index subdirectory
automatically when the index is no longer used.
Controlling index area use
Control the use of an index area by setting resource statuses.
You can also configure Content Platform Engine to
automatically activate index areas and to enforce index area capacity
limits.
Partitioning indexes
To potentially improve CBR query performance, group objects
into separate indexes in accordance with the value of an object property.
Such a property is called a partition property. Partitioning indexes
potentially improves CBR query performance by reducing the amount
of index information that must be searched.
Index areas and full-text indexes
An index area is a file system directory that contains
the files for the full-text indexes that belong to the area. You create
index areas manually. An object store can have one or more index areas.
