If
you are upgrading FileNet® P8 from
version 5.0 or 5.1, stop all Content Engine-related
services and applications and do a backup before doing the upgrade.
Before you begin
Locate and navigate to the version 5.0 or 5.1
IBM®
FileNet P8 documentation. Reference
the back up and restore topics for information about all databases
and configuration files that should be backed up before upgrading.
Restriction: If
you are running IBM Legacy Content Search
Engine,
and you want your system to retain the ability to do content-based
searches, you must complete the migration from IBM Legacy Content Search
Engine to IBM Content Search Services before upgrading. If
you are running version 5.0 you must first upgrade FileNet P8 to version 5.1 and complete
the migration. You can then upgrade FileNet P8 from version 5.1.
Procedure
- Stop the following components (if they are running). For procedures

- Back up the Content Engine object
store databases, the global configuration database, and configuration

- If you are doing a migration upgrade, make a copy of the
entire configuration profiles directory.
