If
you are upgrading FileNet® P8 from
version 4.5.1, stop all Process Engine-related
services and applications and do a backup before doing the upgrade.
Before you begin
Locate
and navigate to the
IBM®
FileNet P8 Version
4.5.1 documentation. Reference the back up and restore topics for
information about all databases and configuration files that should
be backed up before upgrading.
About this task
Remember: If upgrading
a server farm environment, you need to stop all Process Engine-related services and applications
on all of the nodes in the farm.
Procedure
- Log on as fnsw or alias (Windows)
or root (AIX®, HPUX, Solaris).
- Stop the following components if they are
running:

Process Engine |

Process Engine or Application Engine |
- Stop the following Windows services
and disable them:
- IMSControlService
- Process Engine Services Manager
- Shut down any active windows displaying Process Engine log files.
- Enter the following on the command line to stop the Process Engine
software:
initfnsw -y stop
- Enter the following on the command line after the Process Engine
software is shut down.
(Windows) killfnsw -D -y -S
(AIX, HPUX, Solaris, Linux, Linux on System Z) killfnsw -D -A -y -S
- (AIX only)
Run the following command:
slibclean
- (AIX, HPUX, Solaris, Linux, Linux on System Z) Run the following command
to look for any Java™ processes
that are still running:
ps -ef | grep java | grep VW
- Kill any FileNet P8-related running Java processes.
- Back up the Process Engine database
