A backup of the data in your FileNet® P8 domain consists of a collection
of backups of the global configuration database, object stores, legacy workflow systems, Case Analyzer stores, and index
areas. The data that is backed up can consist of configuration and
object metadata as well as content files. Content files can be stored
in a database or on a file system. Content files and index areas must
be kept in sync with any associated object stores.
About this task
You can perform either an offline or online backup. For
more information about online backups, see Online backup
options.
Procedure
To back up your FileNet P8 data:
- (Offline backup only) Stop all activity that is related
to the FileNet P8 software.
The following tasks are listed in the order in which you typically
stop the FileNet P8 components.
- Stop all client applications, such as IBM® Content Navigator.
- Stop the Content Platform Engine application
on all Content Platform Engine servers.
- Stop the application server software that hosts Content Platform Engine on all Content Platform Engine servers. Failure to
stop the application server software might leave the database connections
open and prevent the database backup.
- Stop the IBM Content Search Services service
on all IBM Content Search Services servers.
- Stop all fixed content devices, including federated content systems,
by using the instructions that are provided by the vendor.
- Perform the following backups. For an offline backup, you
can perform the backups concurrently or in any order.
Tip: For online backups, use the following information as an
aid in determining the location of the databases and file systems
that must be backed up. For specific instructions on performing an
online backup, see
Performing an online backup.
- Restart any FileNet P8 components
or services that were stopped.
