Verifying your IBM Content Navigator deployment

Before you administer the IBM® Content Navigator web client, you must verify that IBM Content Navigator was successfully deployed to your web application server.

Before you begin

Ensure that you completed the following tasks:
  1. Ran all of the tasks in the IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment Tool
  2. Completed any required post-deployment tasks on your web application server
  3. Configured your database for IBM Content Navigator
  4. Restarted the IBM Content Navigator web application server.

See the completed Worksheet for verifying your deployment when you complete this task.

Procedure

To verify that IBM Content Navigator was successfully installed and deployed:

  1. View the installation log file. The log file is in the logs subdirectory of the IBM Content Navigator installation directory.
  2. Verify that the IBM Content Navigator Ping page displays your IBM Content Navigator installation at the correct version number.
  3. Verify that you can access the IBM Content Navigator web client:
    1. Open a web browser and enter a URL with the following format: http://host_name:port_number/context_root. By default, the context root is navigator.
Tip: The format of the URL can vary depending on your environment:
      • If you deployed IBM Content Navigator to a highly available cluster, the URL must point to the load balancing server: http://load_balancer_host_name:load_balancer_port_number/context_root.
      • If you are using SSL, the protocol of the URL is HTTPS: https://host_name:port_number/context_root.
      • If you are using Tivoli® Access Manager for e-business for single sign-on (SSO), the URL is http://TAM_server_name/context_root.

If you want to connect to IBM Content Navigator by using a forward proxy server, refer to your proxy server documentation to determine the correct format of the URL. In the standard format, the protocol portion of the IBM Content Navigator URL is replaced with the URL of the forward proxy server. You do not need to provide any additional parameters to connect to IBM Content Navigator through a forward proxy server.

What to do next

After you verify your deployment, you must configure the web client for users.
