Checklist for migration to DB2 10 conversion mode from Version 9

After you complete the premigration tasks to prepare your DB2® 9 subsystem, you can continue with migrating to DB2 10 conversion mode from Version 9.

About this task

Complete these steps in the order that they are listed.

• Complete premigration activities.
• Run the link checker on DB2 table spaces.
• Optional: Determine which packages are invalid after migration.
• Optional: Check for consistency between catalog tables.
• Take image copies of the directory and catalog: job DSNTIJIC.
• Connect DB2 to TSO.
• Optional: Connect DB2 to IMS™.
• Optional: Connect CICS® to DB2.
• Stop your DB2 9 subsystem.
• Optional: Back up your DB2 9 volumes.
• Define DB2 initialization parameters: job DSNTIJUZ.
• Optional: Establish subsystem security.
• Define DB2 10 to z/OS®, and build cataloged procedures: job DSNTIJMV.
• Define system data sets: job DSNTIJIN.
• Optional: Define authorization exit routines: job DSNTIJEX.

  You can skip this step if you did not run job DSNTIJEX for your DB2 9 subsystem.

• Optional: IPL z/OS.

  You can skip this step if no PARMLIB updates exist and your early code is at the correct level.

• Start DB2 10.
• Tailor the DB2 10 catalog: job DSNTIJTC.
• Optional: Check the integrity of the catalog and directory.
• Optional: Rebuild indexes that are put in the informational rebuild-pending state during migration to DB2 10: job DSNTIJRI.
• Enable change data capture.
• Prepare the dynamic SQL program and bind the packages for DB2 REXX Language Support. Optionally, create additional table spaces in the work file database: job DSNTIJTM.
• Rebind SPUFI packages and packages that are defined by IBM®: job DSNTIJSG.
• Migrate EXPLAIN tables to the current format and encoding type.
• Configure DB2 for running stored procedures and user-defined functions.
• Set up supplied routines and supported objects: jobs DSNTIJRW, DSNTIJRT and DSNTIJRV.
• Verify views.
• Take an image copy of the DB2 10 catalog: job DSNTIJIC.
• Set up the administrative task scheduler.
• Optional: Run DB2 9 verification jobs: jobs DSNTEJxx.
• Optional: Collect improved statistics.

  You can skip this step if your DB2 9 RUNSTATS procedures included the KEYCARD option.
