Administering Dashboard Application Services Hub
Dashboard Application Services Hub administration tasks include setting up the console, managing users, exporting and importing data, and configuring the type of mobile devices to use the mobile version of the console.
If Dashboard Application Services Hub and Administration Services are installed in the same Installation Manager software package group, that is, the JazzSM_HOME directory, the following actions occur:
- Dashboard Application Services Hub is registered a managed resource with the Administration Services administration service provider.
- The Dashboard Application Services Hub task bundle is also installed. This task bundle contains tasks to
administer and implement best practices for Dashboard Application Services Hub.
You can run these administration tasks by using the Administration Services CLI or UI.
Depending on the administration task, you might have to restart the Dashboard Application Services Hub application or the Jazz™ for Service Management application server in which it is installed.
Dashboard Application Services Hub also provides a command-line interface to work with console elements such as dashboards, views, widgets, charts, and preference profiles. You can run commands to list these elements, list roles that are assigned to them, then add or delete roles. The CLI also provides import and export commands. - Disabling Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration
Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration is an option that is provided in Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008 operating systems and higher. To use Dashboard Application Services Hub with Internet Explorer, you must disable Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration. - Logging in
Log in to the console whenever you want to start a work session. - Setting up the console
For a new console installation, the console administrator needs to create the experience for users when they log into the console. This task involves working through the console content from the basic building blocks to the high level organization and presentation of these resources so that users can quickly find what their way around and perform their tasks efficiently. - Working with roles
Console users are granted access to resources based on the role to which they have been assigned. In the navigation pane, click
> Roles to add and remove roles and to assign access to widgets,
dashboards, and views. - Logging out active users
Administrators can search for active users and log them out in the User Roles page. - Working with preference profiles
Preference profiles are a collection of console behavior preferences for using the console that are created by the console administrator. These preferences include the visibility of the navigation tree, contents of the view selection list, and the default view. Assign preference profiles to roles to manage how the navigation area and view selections are displayed to the users in the role. - Console Properties page
The Console Properties page is used to display properties for the console, some of which can be changed from within the page. - Specifying mobile agents in consoleProperties.xml
An administrator can configure the type of mobile devices to use the mobile version of the console. - Accessing Context Menu Service features
To access Context Menu Service features from within Dashboard Application Services Hub, you must be assigned the Monitor role in Dashboard Application Services Hub. - Specifying a default locale in consoleProperties.xml
An administrator can set a default locale in consoleProperties.xml, so that browser locale settings are overridden. - Dashboard Hub overview
As an administrator, use the Dashboard Hub to export and import individual dashboards between Dashboard Application Services Hub instances, often from test instances to live environments. - Exporting and importing
You can export customized configuration data from an existing Dashboard Application Services Hub installation to another by exporting the data and subsequently importing the exported data. - Credential Store
