Upgrading the version 6.2.2 and later server

Upgrading from a previous version of IBM® UrbanCode™ Release to version 6.2.2 involves two steps: installing version 6.2.2 and removing the previous version.

For previous versions, IBM Installation Manager is used to install and upgrade to a new version. In version 6.2.2, the install program is included in the product install image. If you are upgrading from a previous release you will need to first install version 6.2.2 and afterwards remove IBM Installation Manager.

  1. Download and extract the installation files for IBM UrbanCode Release. The installation image files are available for download from the IBM Passport Advantage® website.
Do not extract the files in the product installation directory, instead extract into a different directory.
  2. Stop the server.
  3. Open a command-line window. From the command line, run the server installation program. The installation program is located in the urelease-install directory.
    • On Windows™, run the install-server.bat file.
    • On Linux™, run ./install-server.sh.
  4. Read the license agreements for the software package.
Press Enter to show one page at a time, or type F and then press Enter to show the entire license at once.
  5. Type Y and press Enter to accept the license agreement.
If you do not accept the license agreement, the installation process will end.
  6. Specify the location of the server installation directory to upgrade.
Type the fully-qualified path of the installation directory for the IBM UrbanCode Release server to be upgraded. The default value is C:\Program Files\IBM\UCRelease
  7. Type Y to start the upgrade. Respond to the any additional prompts.
After the upgrade is complete, you can start the server and then access the IBM UrbanCode Release user interface.

After testing the installation, remove IBM Installation Manager. See Removing IBM Installation Manager for details.
