Abstract

Along with new function, this fix pack has APAR and defect fixes for IBM Tivoli Storage Productivity Center version 5.1.0. It will result in an upgrade to version 5.1.1.

The 5.1.x supported products and platforms pages have been updated for 5.1.1.

Notes:
  • Fix Central is the IBM recommended site for retrieving fixes for most products. Fix Central enables customers to search, select, and download appropriate fixes for their situation. Tivoli Storage Productivity Center 5.1.1 fixes are available only on Fix Central.
  • Use the GNU tar program (1.14 or higher) rather than the native AIX tar program to extract files from Tivoli Storage Productivity Center installation images. The AIX tar program can truncate long file names, which may cause errors with the Tivoli Storage Productivity Center application.

Prerequisites

This fix pack is a full version of IBM Tivoli Storage Productivity Center and can be applied as an upgrade to any IBM Tivoli Storage Productivity Center 4.x or 5.1.0 system. The fix pack media provided for Tivoli Storage Productivity Center 5.1.1.0 does not include a license key.  You must have a license key to perform a new installation. If you are applying this fix pack as an upgrade, your existing license will be transferred.

Installation Instructions

All fix packs are installed using the IBM Tivoli Storage Productivity Center upgrade procedure covered in Chapter 4 of the IBM Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Installation and Configuration Guide. Please review the limitations and known issues technote prior to applying this fix pack. It contains last-minute information and changes that could not be included in the final product documentation.

If you are doing a new installation, rather than an upgrade, review the information below to ensure your license is applied. This is a result of APAR IC89068 that will be addressed in a Tivoli Storage Productivity Center maintenance release.

To avoid APAR IC89068:
Copy the following directory from the Tivoli Storage Productivity Center v5.1.0 GA disk1 DVD or electronic image into the Tivoli Storage Productivity Center v5.1.1 disk1 source installation directory:

<root_directory>/license/key/  (copy the entire key directory)


Use the modified source installation directory to perform the Tivoli Storage Productivity Center 5.1.1 installation.



Tip: If you are installing on Windows, you can get 5.1.1 media with the license included on Passport Advantage. Due to APAR IC85597, the Windows server files within the V5.1 eAssemblies have been replaced with V5.1.1 server files. In addition to the license files, this update includes a fix for IC90217 for Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Select Edition V5.1.1. See the updated V5.1 download documents for more information.
