Error description

  • When Upgrading or installing TPC 5.1 on a Windows 2008 server
    in a domain environment, (member server), upgrade will fail due
     to inability to stop TPC's TIP service.  The associated Websphe
    re service cannot be stopped because it attempts to validate the
     user on the Domain even if a Local user has been used for the
     TPC installation.  The result is a "non-unique user ID" error
     for any user that may exist in both locations, ie Administrator
     or db2admin.

    Upgrade fails and no workaround exists other than removing the
     member server completely from the Domain and rerunning upgrade
     or installation.

    * upgrade because WebSphere Application Server fails to        *
    * restart after configuration.                                 *
    * Until a fix is available with APAR IC85997, you can avoid    *
    * encountering this problem by following these temporary       *
    * restrictions:                                                *
    * Do not install Tivoli Storage Productivity Center version    *
    * 5.1 on a machine if it is a member of a Windows domain. Do   *
    * not upgrade your existing installation to Tivoli Storage     *
    * Productivity Center version 5.1 on a machine if it is a      *
    * member of a Windows domain.  Do not move existing stand-     *
    * alone Tivoli Storage Productivity Center version 5.1 servers *

    * Upgrade to TPC 5.1.1 when available.                         *

Problem conclusion

  • This problem is addressed with TPC 5.1.1.  If you already
    attempted to upgrade and encountered this, you should contact
    IBM support for cleanup steps and further procedures.  If you
    cannot wait for TPC 5.1.1, a patch may be available from support
    for some upgrade scenarios.  The fix for this APAR is
    targeted for the following maintenance package:
