Upgrading execution stacks progressively

In this task of the rolling upgrade, you upgrade the execution stacks.

Before you begin

Note: The testing and simulation feature is not part of the rolling upgrade.
  1. Back up the client web applications.
  2. Install Operational Decision Manager for z/OS® V8.8.0.

About this task

Procedure

  1. Stop each zRule Execution Server for z/OS V8.7 instance and start the new zRule Execution Server for z/OS V8.8.0 instances.

    Each zRule Execution Server for z/OS V8.8.0 instance is now connected to the Rule Execution Server console V8.8.0.

  2. Optional: If the Rule Execution Server console is deployed as a Java™ Enterprise Edition archive (EAR) on an application server that is associated with an execution unit (XU) resource adapter, you must upgrade this XU resource adapter when the Rule Execution Server console is upgraded.

    Stop and restart your application server after the XU resource adapter is upgraded.

    Note: Skip this step if you are using a Tomcat server.
  3. If you have rule sessions in custom decision services, upgrade them.
  4. Upgrade hosted transparent decision services (HTDS) from V8.7 to V8.8.0.

Results

The result of Operational Decision Manager rolling upgrade for execution stack for z/OS platform

All execution stacks are upgraded to V8.8.0.
