Upgrading Rule Designer

In this task of the rolling upgrade, you upgrade Rule Designer.

Before you begin

  1. Back up the data from Rule Designer.
  2. Install Rule Designer V8.8.0.

About this task

While you are upgrading Rule Designer, the assets such as RuleApps and rulesets for V8.7 and V8.8.0 can coexist in Rule Execution Server and zRule Execution Server for z/OS®. However, all of these assets must be regenerated and upgraded to V8.8.0 by the time the rolling upgrade is complete.

Procedure

  1. Import rule projects that are created in V8.7 to Rule Designer V8.8.0.

    You must also import Java™ XOM projects.

  2. Build the rule projects.
  3. Synchronize the migrated rule projects with Decision Center V8.8.0.
  4. Redeploy the rule artifacts from Decision Center V8.8.0 or Rule Designer V8.8.0 to the Rule Execution Server console V8.8.0 and the Rule Execution Server database.

Results

The result of Operational Decision Manager rolling upgrade for Rule Designer for distributed platform

  • Rule Designer is at V8.8.0. If you have multiple Rule Designers in the platform, all of them are now at V8.8.0.
  • RuleApps and rulesets that are deployed in Rule Execution Server and zRule Execution Server for z/OS have been regenerated in V8.8.0 from their corresponding rule projects or decision service projects.

You have completed the rolling upgrade of Operational Decision Manager. All Operational Decision Manager runtime components and tools have been upgraded to V8.8.0 and run V8.8.0 assets.
