Installing the product with Installation Manager

If you already installed the required software, you can use Installation Manager to select the specific Operational Decision Manager packages that you want to install.

Using Installation Manager, you can install only a subset of Operational Decision Manager. You can also customize your installation for specific configurations. For example, you can:

Before you proceed with the installation, make sure that you have a license for the products you want to install.

IBM Operational Decision Manager is split into components that correspond to installable units:
IBM Decision Center
An environment for business users to author, manage, and test business rules and event rules.
IBM Decision Server
Development and runtime environments for business rules and business events.
Profile templates for WebSphere Application Server
Events and rules template profiles and runtime for deploying Decision Center and Decision Server on WebSphere Application Server. You need an IBM Decision Server license to use this component.
Business Rules Embedded
Development environment for adding business rules functionality to applications. You need an IBM Decision Server license to use this component and Eclipse 3.6 as your development environment.

To install the Operational Decision Manager components, Installation Manager must access the corresponding repositories. When you use the product launchpad, the path to these repositories is set automatically in the Installation Manager preferences. If you are not using the launchpad, you must specify the repository URLs in Installation Manager.

After you complete the installation of the products with Installation Manager, you have to configure Decision Center and Decision Server to use Operational Decision Manager in production.
