Selecting a dump file for an NCP dump

z/OS Communications Server: SNA Network Implementation Guide
SC27-3672-01

When you take a dynamic or static dump of an NCP, VTAM® requires the name of the file in the host that is to receive the dump. You can specify the dump file in the NCP definition with the DUMPDS operand (on the PCCU statement), or you can specify it on the MODIFY DUMP command with the DUMPDS operand. The value you specify on the DUMPDS operand should be a logical unit name (SYSxxx). Use the symbolic device name that is coded on the EXTENT or ASSIGN statement for the DLBL statement that contains the file name for the dump data set. The command overrides the specification in the PCCU definition statement, or specifies a file if one was not specified.
