Operating VTAM z/OS Communications Server: SNA Network Implementation Guide SC27-3672-01 |
|
Operating VTAM® involves starting and stopping VTAM, activating and deactivating resources, and monitoring the domain. Although the operator usually performs these tasks, the system programmer must define the procedures that the operator uses when doing these tasks. These procedures are usually written by the system programmer in a locally-produced document called a run book. A run book is a list of procedures for operators to follow. For
example, you might want to list the start options that operators should
use when starting different hosts. Following is an example of what
might be in a run book:
Notice that this gives very specific
information about your own network, such as the names of the nodes. For operators who are learning about operating VTAM, see z/OS Communications Server: SNA Operation. The following list shows where to find information about operating VTAM.
