AT-TLS transparently performs Transport Layer Security (TLS) on behalf of the application by invoking the z/OS® System Secure Socket Layer (SSL) in the TCP transport layer. System SSL provides support for the TLS and SSL protocols. AT-TLS uses a policy-based configuration, and the Policy Agent application is required to define rules and actions to the TCP/IP stack for TCP connections using AT-TLS.
