Before you migrate a WebSphere® Application Server for z/OS® node to Version 9.0, you must create Job Control Language (JCL) jobs (CNTL
and DATA datasets) that you will run on z/OS during the actual migration. You can use the z/OS Migration Management Tool to
create a migration definition and upload the appropriate migration jobs.
Before you begin
Supported configurations:
This topic is about profile configuration migration. To migrate your applications
to the latest version, use the WebSphere Application
Server Migration Toolkit.
- Install WebSphere Application Server Version 9.0 on a z/OS system containing
the earlier configuration.
- Install the most current release of WebSphere Customization Toolbox Version 9.0 on a workstation running the Windows or Linux®
Intel
operating system.
- If the latest release of WebSphere Customization Toolbox Version 9.0 is on your product disk, install it.
- If the latest release of WebSphere Customization Toolbox Version 9.0 is not on your product disk, perform the following
tasks:
- Go to Recommended updates for WebSphere Application Server.
- Look under Version 9.0 for a link to the WebSphere
Customization Toolbox Version 9.0 download page.
- Go to that web page, and download the latest WebSphere Customization Toolbox Version 9.0 package.
- Optional: Uninstall any earlier releases of WebSphere Customization Toolbox Version 9.0 from your system.
Tip: You can have multiple
copies of WebSphere Customization Toolbox concurrently installed. If you want to do this (to make sure
that the new version is working before deleting the old version for example), the only requirement
is that you install each version at a different location.
- Install the new WebSphere Customization Toolbox Version 9.0 package.
Procedure
- Open the WebSphere Customization Toolbox.
- If the z/OS Migration Management Tool is not already open, perform the following actions:
-
Open the Welcome tab, and select z/OS Migration Management
Tool.
-
Read the Welcome information, and then click Launch Selected Tool.

You can now create or work with a WebSphere Application Server for z/OS
Version 9.0 migration definition.
