This task outlines the steps for installing Query Patroller
server on Windows using
the DB2® Setup wizard.
Before you begin
- To install Query Patroller Version 9 server, a DB2 Version 9 server must already be installed.
This list of qualified servers include:
- DB2 Enterprise Server Edition
- DB2 Workgroup Server Edition
- DB2 Express® Edition
- The instance running on your DB2 server
must be stopped. To stop an instance, log on to the system as a user
with SYSADM authority and issue the db2stop command
at a Windows command prompt.
- All of the languages that the clients will use when submitting
queries to Query Patroller server must be installed on the server
in order to eliminate any server to client dependencies.

You can click the Cancel button at any time
to end the installation.
To install Query Patroller server
on Windows:
Procedure
- Log on to the system with the Administrator account you
will use to install Query Patroller server.
- Close all programs so the installation program can update
files as required.
- Insert the CD-ROM into the drive. If enabled, the auto-run
feature automatically starts the DB2 Setup
Launchpad. From this window you can proceed directly to the installation.
If the auto-run does not work, use Windows Explorer
to browse the DB2 product CD
and double-click the setup icon.
- Choose Install a Product from the DB2 Launchpad.
- The DB2 Setup Wizard
opens. Click on Work with existing and choose
the DB2 installation path where
you want to install Query Patroller.
- Follow the instructions on the DB2 Setup Wizard.
Note: If
you select Computer usage based from the Select
the installation type window using the DB2 Setup wizard and you select Server from
the Select how this computer will be used window,
the Query Patroller Center is not installed. If you want to install
the Query Patroller Center, select either the Complete or
the Custom installation types from the Select
the installation type window. You do not have to use
the Computer usage based installation type
to install the Query Patroller server. You can use either the Complete or
the Custom installation types to install the
Query Patroller server.
Results
For information on errors encountered during installation,
see the installation log file. This file stores general information
and error messages resulting from install and uninstall activities.
The installation log file is located in the My Documents\DB2LOG\ directory.
The location of the My Documents directory depends
on your computer settings. By default, the name of the installation
log file follows this format:
DB2-<prod>-<Mon/Tue/...> <date>

example:
DB2-QP_MON May 22 10-20-46 2006
