Recovery from an unsuccessful restore operation

A restore operation can be unsuccessful either because an error was encountered when trying to restore an object or because the operation was interrupted. If the object existed on the system before the restore operation, it might be damaged by the unsuccessful restore operation.

An object is not restored when an error is encountered. The error is either recoverable or not.
