Configuring hybrid MDM

The hybrid MDM implementation requires mapping between virtual MDM and physical MDM models, or data structures. You might need to modify the mapping to accommodate new attributes before you validate and deploy it.

About this task

Within the InfoSphere® MDM Workbench, you can create, configure, and deploy the key assets to enable your hybrid MDM implementation. The steps in the procedure are described in more detail in the topics that follow.

Procedure

  1. In the InfoSphere MDM Workbench, follow the steps to create projects in the workspace.
  2. If you make changes to the mapping or to the configuration, ensure that the mapping and configuration stay in sync. Use the Graphical Data Mapper tool in the InfoSphere MDM Workbench to modify the mapping.
  3. Confirm that virtual MDM data includes values for any fields considered mandatory by physical MDM.
  4. If necessary, modify the default hybrid MDM composite view to account for your own survivorship rules.
  5. Whether you use the default composite view or modify it, you must deploy it to make it available to the hybrid MDM API.
  6. Examine the two default external rules. The rules can be augmented with your own logic to customize the way that entities are synchronized and persisted from virtual MDM to physical MDM.
