Deleting records and history

You can delete a record or history for a person or organization if the setting in the record allows the deletion.

About this task

The Do not delete indicator field controls whether you can delete the record, the history, or both the record and the history for a person or organization.

Only users with the required authorization can delete records and history information. If you do not have the required authorization, the Delete options icon does not appear on the Details window.

Procedure

  1. The top of the Details window displays the key attributes for the person or organization, such as Name and Location. In the Details window, the Delete options icon appears on the right side of these key attributes. Click the Delete options icon.
    This icon is a arrow that points downward. The icon appears on the right side of the Summary section in the Details window.
  2. From the list that appears, select the item that you want to delete. If no delete options are set, the list is empty and the No options set message appears. You cannot delete the record or the history.
  3. A confirmation window appears. Click Yes to delete or No to return to the Details window.

Results

If you delete the record, or the both the record and the history:
If you delete only the history:
  • If the delete is successful, you remain on the Details window.
  • If the delete failed, you remain on the Details window and an error message appears.
