Installing the product

Depending upon your environment, you can perform the installation in interactive or silent mode. The instructions for each deployment type are the same for all editions.

Before you begin

Make sure that you meet these prerequisites:
  • Your environment meets the hardware and software requirements for components you plan to install
  • You completed the installation worksheets
  • You have access to the IBM® InfoSphere® Master Data Management offering
  • You completed the preparation steps for the database and IBM WebSphere® Application Server

If you want to install IBM InfoSphere MDM Standard or Advanced Edition, refer to Installing MDM Standard and Advanced Editions.

Attention: Known issue in the InfoSphere MDM Collaboration Server - Collaborative Edition installer: If you use one of the following locales when installing InfoSphere MDM Collaboration Server - Collaborative Edition, the default_locale value in the common.properties file is not set correctly. Do not have the installer create the database tables.
  • de_DE
  • el_GR
  • es_ES
  • fr_FR
  • it_IT
  • ja_JP
  • ko_KR
  • pl_PL
  • pt_BR
  • ru_RU
  • tr_TR
  • zh_CN
  • zh_TW
After completing the installation, you need to update the etc/default/common.properties file and correct the default_locale value. Then, issue the create_schema.sh command to create the database tables to be used by InfoSphere MDM Collaboration Server - Collaborative Edition. In order for the scripts to start and stop the services to use the correct locale, the default_locale value in the common.properties file also needs to have the correct value. To correct the problem, stop the services using the stop_local.sh command and start the services after the common.properties file has been updated with the correct default_locale value.

Procedure

  1. If you use DB2® as the database manager, in a UNIX shell, export the environment variable DB2_HOME and source the DB2 profile. For Oracle, export the environment variable ORACLE_HOME.
  2. Ensure the Perl library is defined in the PATH variable.
  3. In the Eclipse directory in the IBM Installation Manager install directory, issue the ./IBMIM command to invoke IBM Installation Manager.
  4. Add the necessary repositories to IBM Installation Manager.
  5. Install InfoSphere MDM Collaboration Server - Collaborative Edition.
