Installing a stand-alone server with DB2

Complete the tasks in this section to install a stand-alone InfoSphere® MDM server with IBM® DB2®.

About this task

A stand-alone server installation with DB2 enables you to deploy an InfoSphere MDM edition, IBM WebSphere® Application Server, and IBM DB2 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows on a server.

Stand-alone installations with DB2 must be run as a root user on UNIX and Linux, or an administrator user on Microsoft Windows.

Important: Before you begin the process of installing InfoSphere MDM, review the known problems. Some of the known installation problems require you to complete specific preinstallation configuration tasks. Failure to complete these configuration tasks can result in a failed installation.

Procedure

  1. Download the following products:
    • IBM InfoSphere Master Data Management
    • IBM WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment
    • IBM WebSphere Application Server fix packs, as applicable.
    • IBM DB2 Enterprise (there are three versions; choose the version that is applicable to the platform that you are installing onto)
Note: For specific required version information for each product, see the software requirements.
  2. Extract the IBM InfoSphere Master Data Management files to a folder called MDM.
  3. Extract the IBM WebSphere Application Server Server files to a folder called WASND.
  4. Extract the IBM WebSphere Application Server fix pack files to a folder called WASFP.
  5. Extract the IBM DB2 Enterprise disks to a folder called DB2.
  6. Start the InfoSphere MDM installation launchpad application:
    • On Microsoft Windows, go to MDM\disk1 and right-click launchpad.exe. Choose Run as administrator, then click Yes in the User Account Control window that appears. Finally, click the Stand Alone Workstation Installation link.
    • On UNIX and Linux systems, go to MDM/disk1 and run launchpad.sh as a user with root access.
