Configuring your database connection

You must configure your server to connect to your database server.

About this task

If the WebSphere® Application Server stub is configured to connect to a managed (federated) WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment environment when you first open the workbench project, you may receive a Publishing to WebSphere Application Server Problem Occurred message. Disregard the message and click OK.

Procedure

  1. In the Servers tab, click No servers available. Define a new server from the new server wizard....
  2. Complete these tasks in the Define a New Server dialog window wizard:
    • Enter the Servers host name, such as localhost.
    • In the server type list, select WebSphere Application Server v8.5.
  3. Click Next.
  4. Complete one of these actions:
    • If you are using localhost for your Servers host name, select the Automatically determine connection settings radio button.
    • If you are not using localhost for your Servers host name:
      1. Select the Manually provide connection settings radio button.
      2. Select RMI and enter the port number, such as 9810
      3. Select SOAP and enter the port number, such as 8880.
  5. Select Security is enabled on this server, and enter the User ID and Password, such as mdmadmin and mdmadmin.
  6. In the Application server name text box, enter the name of the application server to connect to, such as server1.
  7. Click Next.
  8. Clear the Enable the server to start remotely option.
  9. Click Next.
  10. Under the Servers Tab, double-click the WebSphere Application Server v8.5 stub at SERVERNAME option, where SERVERNAME=localhost or the name of the remote server.
  11. Clear the Enable universal test client option.
  12. Expand the Publishing node and select Never publish automatically.
  13. Expand the Timeouts nodes and enter this information:
    • Start (in seconds): = 3000
    • Stop (in seconds): = 1200
  14. Click the Test Connection link. A Connection successful message displays.
  15. Click OK.
  16. On the tab, click the x. The WebSphere Application Server v8.5 stub at SERVERNAME option window is closed.
  17. In the Save Resource window, click YES.
