When two or more multi-member entities will be joined into
a single entity through transitive linking as the result of a member
update or a new member addition, a potential glue member task is created.
The records that form the potential glue member task may
represent the same entity, which creates a valid glue member linkage.
However, it is also possible that the potential glue member task may
represent two or more different entities, which creates an invalid
glue member linkage.
The data steward must determine if the
updated member (trigger member) is valid and take one of the following
actions:
- Retain the updated member in its current entity. This option creates
rules to prevent new tasks from being generated if the member is updated
in the future.
- Move the updated member into a different entity. This option may
create new rules if the entity that the member currently exists in
is not empty.
- Move all members from all of the multiple entities into the same
entity as the target member. This option results in a single, transitively
linked entity.
