Configuring cross-server communication

You can set up other applications to access information to and from the IBM® Rational® Asset Manager application.

About this task

Friend servers are other applications that Rational Asset Manager can request information from. For example, if you are configuring the integration with IBM Jazz™ servers, Rational Asset Manager must be set up to request information from the Jazz server.

If you are placing the pre-configured OpenSocial gadgets in other applications, the application must be capable of requesting information from Rational Asset Manager through OAuth consumer keys and secrets.

You must configure both ends of an integration between Jazz servers. For example, to include information from Rational Asset Manager in another application, you must add Rational Asset Manager as an outgoing friend on other application administration pages. When you set up the application as a friend to Rational Asset Manager you also have to set Rational Asset Manager as a friend to them. See Adding Rational Asset Manager as an external friend to a Jazz server.
