WebSphere Appliance Management Center for WebSphere Appliances Operating Systems: AIX, Linux, Windows

Deleting services

When a service is no longer required, you can delete the service.

Before you begin

You must log on to WebSphere® Appliance Management Center with a user ID that is assigned the relevant permissions.

About this task

You can select and delete only one service at a time. A service might share configuration objects, for example, front-side handlers and XML managers, with other services.

Services are shown only for appliances that contain services and that run firmware version 5.0 or later. You can undertake operations that use services, for example, creating services, only on appliances that have firmware version 5.0 or later. Therefore, results for IBM® WebSphere DataPower® XC10 Appliance, IBM WebSphere DataPower Edge Appliance XE82, and other appliances that run firmware earlier than version 5.0 are not shown.

Procedure

To delete a service, complete the following steps:

  1. Click the Management tab.
  2. To see a list of all services, click the Services tab. The Services page opens showing all the services.
  3. Select the service that you want to delete.
  4. Click Other Actions > Delete Service. The Delete Service window opens.
  5. You receive one of the following responses:
    • If the service you are deleting shares configuration objects with other services, the configuration objects are not deleted because they are required by the other service or services.
    • If you are deleting a service that has configuration objects that are not shared with other services, a list is shown of objects that are referenced by the service that is being deleted, but are not referenced by any other service. By default, no objects are selected and only the service and none of its referenced objects are deleted. Any configuration objects that are not selected are not deleted. Objects that are used by another service are not shown in the list and cannot be deleted unless you delete that service too.

If you want to delete any configuration objects, in the window, select the relevant check boxes. You can select all of the configuration objects by selecting the check box in the Header row.

Note: References that you created by using custom style sheets are not detected. Therefore, if you used a custom style sheet, you must check whether removing an object is likely to break that custom style sheet.
  6. Click Delete.

Results

The service is deleted.
