You must review the WebSphere® Application
Server settings for the application server profile for the ClearQuest® Web Server. If
you installed ClearQuest into
a new profile, the settings in the profile that is created during
installation are optimized for best performance. If you installed
into an existing profile or if the server has performance problems,
the parameter values might require adjustment.

When you upgrade Rational web components to V8.0.1, you
have the option to deploy the components on WebSphere Application
Server V8.5.x. Before you can deploy the upgraded Rational web components,
either upgrade the existing WebSphere Application Server to the new
version or a separate V8.5.x instance.
ClearCase and ClearQuest
V8.0.1 web components support deployment in WebSphere Application
Server version 8.0.0.x and 8.5.x. Depending on the Rational product
version installed and the WebSphere Application Server version used
for deployment, upgrading to ClearCase CCRC WAN server or ClearQuest
Web server V8.0.1 can require installing a new instance of the WebSphere
Application Server and IBM HTTP Server or upgrading the existing version.
To
install, or upgrade, WebSphere Application Server V8.5.x to support
ClearCase CCRC WAN server and ClearQuest Web server V8.0.1:
- Install a new instance of WebSphere Application Server 8.5.x in
any of the following cases:
- When you upgrade from ClearCase or ClearQuest V7.1.1.x, V7.1.2.x
to V8.0.1
- When you upgrade from a ClearCase or ClearQuest V8.0 or V8.0.0.1
installation deployed to WebSphere Application Server V7.0.x
- If you are upgrading to ClearCase or ClearQuest V8.0.1 from a
V8.0.0.x installation deployed to WebSphere Application Server V8.0.0.x,
you have the option to upgrade the existing WebSphere Application
Server to version 8.5.x or to continue using WebSphere Application
Server V8.0.0.x.

About this task
Table 1 lists
the recommended settings for the WebSphere Application
Server profile where Rational® ClearQuest Web
server is deployed. These values are applied by default when ClearQuest Web server is
deployed into a new profile that is created during the ClearQuest installation or upgrade process.
For
best performance, make sure that the
JVM Heap Size and
Thread
pools parameters are at the recommended settings for the ClearQuest Web server profile.

Note:
If you select the Installation Manager
to deploy the ClearQuest Web into a new WebSphere profile, called
'cqwebprofile', the Installation Manager presets these default values
to the optimal setting. If you select, to deploy ClearQuest Web in
an existing WebSphere profile, these optimal settings cannot be set.
You must set them.
