Migrating the Decision Center database

If you migrate from version 8.5 or earlier versions, you must migrate rule projects that are created before Decision Center version 8.8.0 because the database schema changed between previous releases and the current release.

Before you begin

Install Decision Center and follow the instructions in the configuration guide to create the new database schema. Then, run the migration Ant tasks as explained in the section below.

By default, all versions use the same data source: jdbc/ilogDataSource.

Note: Starting with JRules 7.1, the migration is direct to the latest version.
  • Databases that require specific privileges to access another schema
    Databases other than Derby must have specific privileges to access data in another schema. You must have these privileges for the migration because the process reads the data from the old schema to copy it to the current schema.
  • Ant tasks for database migration
    Your installation provides Ant tasks to copy the contents of an old database into the new schema, and to grant the required privileges to the database user referenced in the data source.
  • Migrating the database progressively
    You can migrate part of your database to the current V8.8.0, work on these migrated projects, and then run an Ant task when you are ready to migrate the rest.
